Early Life and Family
Marjorie was raised in Butler, Ohio, the only daughter of a hard-working Christian family. Her father, Robert Wells, worked at Ohio Brass in Mansfield and her mother, Lelia, was a Butler postal clerk. Richard Wells of Bellville is her younger brother.
Education and Early Aspirations
Marjorie was a happy child; she loved school and became her class of 1950 Valedictorian. Her high school activities were choir and band and Marjorie aspired to be a piano teacher. After graduation, she met and married US Navy Seaman, Joe Algire of Fredericktown, where they settled and had three children- Stephen, Brenda and Kathy.
Life in Fredericktown
Marjorie worked at Edwards Sheet Metal as a secretary and she was active in the Fredericktown United Methodist Church. Her second husband was Jim Fearn, together they raised seven children on a large farm. After Jim's untimely passing, Marjorie moved to town. She retired from Mount Vernon Public Schools as an administrative assistant and the Tomato Show, local garden club, the bridge club and avid gardening kept her busy.
Family and Travel
Family holidays were special to Marjorie. She enjoyed preparing homegrown vegetable dishes and homemade desserts. She lived close to three of her six grandchildren and attended their school and community activities. Marjorie went on several senior bus trips and loved to experience new places of interest. She traveled to see the sights of New York City, Maine, Idaho and Washington State. She and gal pals spent many winters in and around Naples, Florida. The ladies frequented coastal shops, collected shells on sandy beaches and ate fresh seafood. At home, her daily companion was a schnauzer. Unfortunately, in December 2009, Marjorie became ill with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which took her life in February 2010- before her 78th birthday.
